Pacers Malcolm Brogdon Goes Macro Via Impact Investing Push
Brogdon has taken a unique approach, via his portfolio: 100% of the point guard’s financial investments are pledged to active causes. They include “impact” companies on the private market side or ESG ones, which consider a company’s environmental, social and governance practices—alongside traditional financial metrics—on the public side. What I've Learned From My Work with the Brogdon Family Foundation's Hoops4Humanity Initiative
How can one person make a difference in the lives of others around the world?
Last month, I was blessed to visit East Africa with the Brogdon Family Foundation’s Hoops4Humanity initiative whose mission is to provide access to clean water through the construction of sustainable wells. Although I’ve traveled to the region several times, this trip was extra special. In March, the foundation completed its first well project at the Patanumbe School in Tanzania serving over 7,000 community members including 500 children attending the school. Being able to see our first project, in-person, and the impact it has on the people is a feeling unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It not only made me proud of the work the Brogdon Family Foundation is doing, but also makes me want to push harder to make a bigger impact.

NBA's Malcolm Brogdon: When protests fade, here's what we must focus on as Americans
Black people in America are fighting two viruses.
On one hand, the global pandemic brought on by COVID-19 is disproportionately impacting black communities. The other virus – racism and its impact on black communities in America – is also alive and well.
Because of my own wealth privilege and status as an NBA player, some might think I am immune from the latter. But last week, as the protest scenes grew violent and chaotic, I looked within and asked what I could do.
